Kristeva lecture at Bucknell postponed

Sept. 21, 2005
LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell University lecture by Julia Kristeva that had been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22, has been postponed.
The lecture, part of the continuing Humanities Institute series at Bucknell, is expected to be rescheduled, according to Michael Payne, professor of English at Bucknell. Kristeva had been denied entrance to the U.S. and was "understandably very disappointed," Payne said.
During her visit, Kristeva was to have received the Bucknell Award of Merit, an award given in recognition to individuals whose exceptional contributions to their professions and communities exemplify the highest standards and aspirations of Bucknell.
Kristeva is regarded as one of the most respected European intellectuals and the author of more than 25 books. She currently holds the chair of linguistics at the University of Paris VII.
